Alom, originally from South Sudan says growing up was the best experience she could have ever asked for. “We have the best foods and the best celebrations, I hope one day everyone can taste the foods, and celebrations from where I’m from!”.
What Made You Join Homage?
As a certified Support Worker, Alom joined Homage Australia so she could continue looking after people in need and make a positive social contribution to her community.
How did you find the recruitment & onboarding process?
Alom says, “The application process was really easy. Whenever I sent a message about my application the team were responsive, kind and caring”. She found the onboarding process calming and easy, saying the team always kept her updated and if paperwork was missing, they followed up with plenty of time to share it. Alom said her first visit was very easy to accept in the App as full instructions of how to do this were provided by the team during her onboarding.
How Was Your First Visit As A Care Professional?
Alom said her first visit was “beyond fantastic! When I was driving there I was very excited as I was starting a new chapter of my healthcare career!” She says she was thrilled to meet the Care Recipient and to be able to provide them with the support they needed. During her first visit, she supported the Care Recipient with some light housekeeping, grocery shopping and general companionship.
What Do You Like The Most About Being A Care Professional?
In addition to providing care to those who need it, Alom says she also really likes the length of time of the visits to be able to properly support the Care Recipients.
