What drew you to Homage? Please tell us a little bit about yourself.

Growing up in Japan and studying and working in New Zealand and Australia, I have experienced various cultures and values. The marketing field has always been my desire and passion, so I completed a relevant bachelor’s degree and started creating my foundational career in the field. In March 2022, my partner proposed to me and asked if I would like to start a new journey in Melbourne with him. Therefore, I was looking for a job opportunity in Melbourne that would allow me to develop my skills and knowledge further in marketing, as well as work in an environment that respects and appreciates diversity, equality, and inclusion. During one of my very first interviews with Lechée (Marketing Manager), she made me feel so welcomed and comfortable. She sounded genuinely interested in my personal and professional background. After that conversation, I could easily imagine myself working at Homage. After several international phone calls with Reggie (People Operations Associate) and completing the recruitment process, I arrived in Melbourne on the 27th of March and started my very first day at Homage a few days later!

What does a typical day as a Marketing Associate entail?

During my hiring process, Lechée asked me a very important question: if I drink coffee, and I answered yes, sincerely. Therefore, my day starts with a cup of coffee with her at Andiamo.

Regarding workload, my role is very much focused on organic content marketing to support B2C Demand, Supply operations and engagement. I work closely with Ashley, Patrick, and Kanny from the Supply team, as well as Maggie and Amy from the Care Advisory team. I am more than happy with this crossover, as I am obsessed with delivering the best customer experience. As a marketer, it is essential to know the details of who we are, what we do, and what our consumer personas are like to identify the challenges for further improvement. I believe that listening to the on-site feedback from the team and implementing the marketing strategy improves brand awareness, customer journey and experience in every detail.

Other than the above, I am working on exploring my interest in graphic design and the full localisation of our branding. In graphic design, I have recently had opportunity to work on creating a campaign for a bus advertisement travelling around Adelaide and Perth. What I mean by full localisation of our brand is spreading awareness to diverse ethnic and cultural groups nationwide. From my personal experience of being a first-generation immigrant in a multinational city like Melbourne, I know the importance of delivering care and support in the comfort of their language and having basic respect and understanding of each other’s culture. As the world is opening up again and Australia is accepting more and more people like me, my goal is to promote our continuous organisational initiative and commitment to diversity and inclusion.

What drives you to be successful in your role?

I am lucky to have the privilege of being able to do what I am passionate about for a living, and it motivates me every minute. During my marketing career, I’ve seen my personal and professional growth, and the Homage team continue to offer me new and exciting ways to add to my experience.

Also, to me, it is very important that I am in a very healthy work environment with lovely people. Every day, I appreciate all the support I get from the team to work in such a comfortable and stress-free environment. It always encourages me to focus entirely on what I do, keep up with a positive attitude, enjoy challenges and be hard-working.
