Tell me a bit more about yourself.
“Greetings – my name is Ashley and nice to e-meet you! I am a huge fan of avocado and love going on outdoor adventures – bike riding, camping, and hiking as it clears my mind when I connect with nature. Recently, I’ve also been enjoying reading self-help books and doing yoga at home to practice mindfulness.”
Why did you join Homage?
“Joining Homage stemmed from my curiosity to explore startups in the healthcare space and the hunger to make an impact on society. I thought it would be a great learning experience and professional development opportunity.”
Storytime – Could you please tell me more about your past academic/work experience?
Ashley is a science graduate from the University of Melbourne. “Upon completion of my degree, I spent a year doing research work at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in the dental oncology department, looking at predictive factors of a radiotherapy side effect in head and neck cancer patients – osteoradionecrosis of the jaws. Throughout my University years, I worked part-time across different industries from hospitality as a waitress, to healthcare as a dental assistant.”
What do you like about being…
-
In the organisation (Homage)?
“I like being in Homage for the people, culture and most importantly, the impact Homage makes to the community in supporting individuals requiring home care, as well as local residents who are looking for rewarding work opportunities or a career change.”
-
In the industry (Healthcare)?
Ashley believes optimal health is essential to achieving happiness and fulfilment. She ads, “Without a healthy body, we are nobody. What I like about being in this industry is that it is always in high demand and provides both stable and rewarding work opportunities. Most importantly, we can help improve the quality of people’s lives.”
-
In your role (Supply Engagement)?
This role enables me to work on various projects involving creativity, project management and data analytics which I am excited to develop further in my career. I have the opportunity to be the voice and advocate for our valued Care Pro, hear their concerns and challenges, and support them in their care journey with Homage.
What was the main reason for the transition into your new role?
Ashley joined Homage as a Care Advisor – supporting our Care Recipients with their care needs. She mentions that she had lots of good phone conversations to help them navigate what’s best for them to be cared for in the comfort of their own homes and stories of their pleasant experience with our valued Care Pros. She was excited to understand how we can best support and give back to our Care Pro community, and also to develop different skill sets that are beneficial to her personal and professional growth.
How are you finding it so far? What are you excited about the most?
It’s been amazing so far! I am excited to see our Care Pro community continue to grow and develop and to deliver the best care possible for our Care Recipients.
Any words you’d like to share with the Homage Care Pros & Applicants?
To all Care Pros, thank you for your dedication and commitment to be in this industry and to be with Homage. We will try our best to support you through your care journey and we want to hear from you!
