Gillian Tee, CEO and Founder of Homage, recently visited the Melbourne office to spend time with the Australian team! We sat down with her to ask five questions regarding the importance of Women’s Health, how she prioritises it and how it is valued and promoted at Homage.

Q1. Why do you think a week to highlight women’s health is important?
Considering that women not only form the majority of the world’s caregivers but also are the world’s child bearers, it’s important we take the time to focus on what’s important for their health and wellness needs, personalised to the journeys they go on – ranging from vocational development to motherhood and other holistic facets of their health and wellness.
Q2. What do you and Homage value the most when it comes to women’s health in the workplace?
First and foremost, we value equal opportunity, equal pay and clear leadership endorsement for women to be developed into leaders or progress on specialist tracks. We also value supporting their journeys should they decide to start a family and in their transition back to work, ensuring that work opportunities can be resumed smoothly from where they left off and they’re not passed out merely because of their parental responsibilities.
Q3. How do you support and promote gender equality at Homage?
I’m proud to say that our team and leadership have equal female and male representation. We also ensure that there is no pay discrimination across genders for equal-leveled roles.
Q4. How do you prioritise your own health – both mentally and physically?
I dedicate regular times each week to what I call “micro-vacations”. These are generally me time which involves workouts like yoga, dance and weights training. Non-negotiable time carved out to spend quality time with my loved ones each week also helps give me the balance I need.
Q5. What advice do you have on achieving work/life balance?
It’s a consistent intentional practice. Design what balance looks like to you which could change over time depending on what you’re going through at any stage of your life. When you can build self awareness and redefine your needs, you can allocate time with higher intentionality to what helps you drive wellness.
