What is Support at Home?

Support at Home is the Australian Government’s home care programme that replaced Home Care Packages in November 2025, funding services that help older Australians live safely and independently at home.

If you self-manage your funding, you choose who delivers your care, including private providers like Homage.

How to Access Support at Home as a Self-Managed Participant

Ready to take the first step? Here is how to get your self-managed Support at Home funding in place so you can start receiving care from Homage.

Monitor & Report

Apply for an assessment
To be approved for a government-subsidised Support at Home package, you first need an aged care needs assessment through My Aged Care. Apply for an assessment online or call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 to discuss your needs.

Review NDIS Plan

Prepare for your assessment
A My Aged Care assessor will usually arrange an in-home visit to understand your care needs. This determines your eligibility and which classification level is most suitable for you. It helps to think about the support you need and prepare any questions beforehand.

Choose your Approved Provider and elect to self-manage
Once approved, you choose a registered Approved Provider to hold your budget and manage your care plan. Let them know you want to self-manage, meaning you want to choose your own support workers, including Homage, rather than have workers

Ask your provider to add Homage
Tell your Approved Provider you would like Homage as your preferred support worker. Your provider will need to approve Homage as a third-party worker and include this in your care plan and service agreement before care can start.

Receive care and let your provider handle the rest
Homage delivers your care and invoices you or your provider directly. Your Approved Provider submits the claim to Services Australia. You keep full visibility over your care; your provider handles the funding administration.

What Support at Home covers

Support at Home funds three types of care: clinical support like nursing and physiotherapy, independence support like help with showering and getting to appointments, and everyday living help like cleaning, meals, and shopping.

You won’t pay anything towards clinical care, and from 1 October 2026 the government will fully fund personal care too, so services like help with showering and dressing come at no out-of-pocket cost.

Your funding is allocated separately for each approved service, which means you can start one service as soon as its funding comes through, even if you’re still waiting on the rest. So you don’t have to wait for your whole package to begin receiving care from Homage.

Using Your Support at Home Funding With Homage

Support at Home is the Australian Government’s home care programme that replaced Home Care Packages in November 2025.

Under the programme, all participants, including those who self-manage, must have a registered Approved Provider who holds their budget and submits claims to Services Australia on their behalf.

If you self-manage your care, you get to choose who delivers your support. That means you can request Homage as your preferred support worker, and your Approved Provider arranges us as a third-party worker in your care plan.

Here is how it works with Homage:

  1. Talk to your Approved Provider and ask them to include Homage as your preferred support worker in your care plan.
  2. Your provider approves Homage as a third-party worker and includes this in your service agreement.
  3. Homage delivers your care and invoices either you or your provider directly, depending on the arrangement your provider prefers.
  4. Your provider submits the claim to Services Australia and reimburses you if you paid Homage directly, or pays Homage directly on your behalf.

You stay in control of who comes into your home. Your Approved Provider handles the funding administration behind the scenes.

Support at Home Services: Frequently Asked Questions

Service FAQ

Can I use my Support at Home funding for Homage's services?

Yes, if you self-manage your care under Support at Home. Self-managing participants can choose their own support workers, including Homage. To do this, speak to your Approved Provider and ask them to include Homage as a third-party worker in your care plan.

Your provider remains responsible for submitting claims to Services Australia. Homage delivers the care and invoices you or your provider depending on the arrangement in place.

Is Homage a registered Support at Home provider?

Homage works with self-managed Support at Home participants, who are free to choose private providers to deliver their care. If you self-manage your funding, you can engage Homage directly, pay for your care, and claim it back through Services Australia. If you have a fully managed package, your care is arranged through your managing provider.

Who submits my Support at Home claims?

Your Approved Provider submits all claims to Services Australia on your behalf – this applies whether you self-manage or not. Homage will invoice you or your provider for the care delivered.

If you pay Homage directly, your provider reimburses you from your budget. If your provider pays Homage directly, they handle it end-to-end. Either way, you never need to submit a claim to Services Australia yourself.

What Support at Home services does Homage offer?

Homage provides personal care, home nursing, domestic assistance, and community access and companionship. Our Care Pros support everything from one-hour visits through to 24/7 overnight care, matched to your needs and schedule.

How much do Homage Support at Home services cost?

Homage offers transparent, pay-as-you-go pricing with no lock-in contract. The amount you can claim back depends on your Support at Home classification and budget. View our current pricing or speak to a Care Advisor.

How quickly can care start?

Once you are self-managing and matched with a suitable Care Pro, care can start quickly. We respond to urgent enquiries the same day, with services often fulfilled within 48 hours, or as quickly as one to three hours for urgent cases.
